Chapter 5: Homework Questions

1) (p127-p129) The author explains that after a few weeks of practicing meditation, the seeker might end up questioning himself/herself whether meditation is really worth it or not, and many times he/she finds himself/herself on a sea of thoughts and doubts. What is the reason of all this? Where do these thoughts come from and what is recommended as a way to regain stability? 2) What is "joy" for most people? What is the deeper, more spiritual sense of the word"joy"? 3) The author gives an example of what is detachment, could you describe it in your on words or give an example? 4) Explain in a few sentences how you would describe a "balanced person". 5) Point out 3 health related problems in our day-to-day lives that can be healed through the perctice of meditation. The problems you mentioned are due to an imbalance in which chackra or subtle channel?

Homework: Meditation & You

Here are questions for your next homework. The next reading is the next chapter (you can skip the rest of the text of the current chapter, as you have been recieving chakra-specific handouts from Ruchi). Lets set a deadline for this as next Tuesday, as the chapter is quite lengthy long. 1a) What are the further benefits of meditation described in the reference book (page 82)? Which of these benefits do you feel in your own personal experience with the practice of Sahaja Yoga? What is it that makes you want to meditate regularly? 1b) If you skip meditation do you feel a difference in your day-to-day life? 2) According to the reference book (pg 88) what is, perhaps the most fundamental questions that human beings have? Have you ever asked yourself this kind of question? 3) What is the relationship between vibrations and Divine communication (pg 93)? Can you give examples ofhow vibratory awareness may help in our daily lives? 4) Describe in a few sentences the 3 distinct stages of medita

Final Synthesis Paper - Charles

My Final Meditation Report PART ONE The first piece of art I felt for vibrations was a piece by Georgia O’Kieffe. The vibrations were flowing upward off of the painting. It felt really cool, like I was holding my hand over a fan. It was very soothing. The second piece of art was a portrait of Frieda Khalo. It was similar to the first except the vibrations didn’t flow upward, they flew straight forward, right up against me. It felt very warm and soothing. The third was a painting by one of my good friends. Strangely, I did not feel any vibrations. This was most likely due to the fact it was my friends painting and he was sitting right there next to me. PART TWO Disclaimer: instead of monuments I felt the vibrations of god/goddess statues and images. The first statue I looked at was one of Vishnu a north Indian goddess** of sorts. I felt very powerful vibra

Meditation Final Synthesis Paper - Reed

At the UMMA (the university of Michigan museum of art) one of there current exhibits is a bunch of original and very famous pictures. The prints are not reproductions or some type of photo copies of the original but the actual print that the photographer took hours to print and get perfect and I thought that it would be a great thing to do my meditation final on. For our final we were supposed to get the vibrations from several nonhuman items and record our results. Some time about a month ago Zosia and I set out to get vibrations from the pictures and these are my results. Felix Bonfils- “Palmyra: a sculptured capital, Syria” My hands were slightly warm and my ring finger and my pinky finger are tingly. Timothy H. O’Sullivan- “Ancient ruins the canon de chelle” Very cool, almost like a breeze on my hands, no tingles at all. Emmet Gowin- “Siena, Italy” Also cool, not like a breeze like the last one but more like a temperature drop, also no tingles Alexander Gardner- “Home of rebel sha

Final Synthesis Paper - Heather

For this paper, we were supposed to check the vibrations of three non-human objects , and three pictures of natural formations. For my three non-human objects, I checked the vibrations of a portrait of my two cousins when they were younger, a pair of extremely ripped blue jeans, and a trashcan. The portrait of my cousins gave off cool vibrations, which meant that both sides of all the chakras were balanced and there were no blockages. The ripped blue jeans had warm vibrations on the palm of both hands, which indicated that both channels had blockages in the Void. And the trashcan had warm vibrations all over my left hand which indicates that the channels are both un balanced. For the pictures of natural formations , I checked the vibrations of pictures of Niagara Falls, The Alps and Lake Michigan. The picture of Niagara Falls gave off hot vibrations on my right hand and warm on the palm of my left, this indicates that the right channel has blockages and needs to be balanced, and that
Final Synthesis Paper Zosia Stolarchuk Throughout our explorations and learning’s in Meditation, this was one of my favorite things we got to do. I was able to go to The University of Michigan Museum of Art with Reed and feel the vibrations of real historical pictures. Besides the fact that I love photography and that this is the chance of a lifetime (to get to see real historical pictures in person), feeling the vibrations of the photographs was an extra fun thing to do. Here are 5 of the 10 pictures that I chose to feel vibrations of: Name of Picture Photographer Vibrations felt Lewis Payne Alexander Gardner Both of my hands were hot. No tingling at all. Reed's April Learning in Meditation

April paper -Reed Fannin Working on others is a great way to help them with stress or even to help them stay healthy. For this you need to stand behind them and do everything to them that you would normally do to yourself when you meditate. First you raise their kundalini and put them in bandhan. At this point you can use your hands, your fingers specifically to find their catches using vibrations that they give off. Depending on which finger or fingers are tingly or feel pressure is where the person has a catch. For example if your index or pointer finger is the one who feels funny then the person who your working on has a problem or catch their Vishuddhi which is around the throat area. Now that you know where the problem is you can work on it by moving your hand in a circular motion at the back of their neck to try to pull out the catch. Working on other people is one of my favorite parts of this class because I get

March Learning for Karen

MARCH PAPER By Karen Waisanen Both the Nabhi and the Void are water elements. The Nabhi and void are very similar. The Nabhi takes care of your stomach, liver, intestines m spleen and pancreas. Both Nabhi and Void are caused to catch when there is miserliness, bad eating habits, asceticism, alcohol and drugs. The Nabhi is also triggered by the rushing around and worrying. The void is triggered by the practice of dark arts, perception altering practice. The Nabhi has a good sense of generosity, complete satisfaction, peace contentment, Dharma, inner sense of morality, evolution, sense of dignity and good host. The Void qualities are gravity, magnetism, dignity care, knowledge, teacher, simplicity, sharp, effective and truth. Working with friends and relatives has been a challenge. I find it’s often harder for me to work with friends that I’m very close to because it takes some time for them to center down. One of my friends could stop laughing. I found with my m

April Learning in Meditation for Zosia

During the month of April we learned about a couple new things and focused in on some other aspects of Meditation. We specifically learned about the Nabhi chakra and the Void. We learned more about Meditating on others, specifically our friends, family, and relatives. We also talked more about how the chakras affect our daily life. The Nabhi is the chakra that is located in the area of the stomach ; the Void is located around the Nabhi chakra. The Nabhi chakra deals with satisfaction and the worries that we deal with. If your Nabhi chakra is in balance you’ll be able to do what you want without worrying about time. The Void tends to be the place where a lot of people’s Kundalini’s catch. This is because as the Kundalini rises it tends to get stuck in the Void and go around it. As the Void fills the Kundalini is able to continue upwards. This allows us to go beyond time and learn how to be our own master. This past month I have been able to work on other people in my family

April Meditation Experience for Heather

April Learning Paper The Nabhi and the Void: The Nabhi is the third Chakra in the body, it is located around the stomach. When this Chakra catches, vibrations can be felt on the middle finger. The Nahbi is the "seat of our desires". When our desires, such as hunger, security, family, etc., are satisfied, our Nahbi makes us feel peace. The Nahbi has ten petals and its element is water. The Void is the area surrounding the 3rd Chakra (the Nahbi). It represents the Ocean of Illusion. The Ocean of Illusion is the "Seat of the Primordial Guru". The guru's qualities are love and compassion, creativity, wisdom and introspection. When there is a catch in the Void, the vibrations are felt on the palm of both hands. Working on people who are not classmates: I found that it was interesting that people who had never meditated before felt the vibrations when I meditated on them. They could feel tingles going up and down their spines when I was raising the

March Meditation Experience for Heather

March Learning Paper The Mooladhara and Swadisthan Chakra's: The Mooladhara Chakra is the first Chakra in the body, it is located at the base of the spine, beneath the sacrum bone. When you're meditating, and the Mooladhara Chakra catches, you can feel the vibrations at the base of the palm on each hand. The Chakra has four petals, and its element is earth. The Mooladhara Chakra controls memory, emotional balance and sexuality. The Swadisthan Chakra is the second chakra in the body, it is located in the lower back and is the start of the right channel. If there is a catch in the Swadisthan Chakra, vibrations are felt on the thumb. This Chakra has six petals, and its element is fire. The Swadisthan Chakra controls the liver, spleen, kidneys and pancreas. It is the source of creativity, pure knowledge and inspiration. How my meditation has progressed over the past month: It has been much easier for me to begin meditating than it used to be. It's a little

Zosia (March '06 Week 2)

Here's my post for the past week: I've mainly been working on finding catches in my chakra's on clearing them, and trying to keep both my right and left side's cool. I haven't had any specific large problems, and i've been able to footsoak twice, which seems to help keep my sides more balanced. There's been a couple morning where I haven't had time at all to meditate, but usually I have time for a longer meditation in the evening. Having a longer meditation also allows me to be able to concentrate more, which I think allows for better meditation. Zosia

im so sorry that it has been such a long time since my last post. i have been meditating almost everyday but mostly at night, it is just more difficult to manage in the morning. ive footsoaked a couple times but it is much easer especially if im not at home to just meditate without it. a couple classes ago you (vic) told me that to fix one of my catches that i should drink alot more water to stay hydrated and that has helped alot, i dont really have a big catch at the momment. i was so used to the meditation thet we did in the begenning that now i find it hard for me to remember all of the right things to say and the right time to say them. i just forget that in suposed to say something, so i like being walked through the new(ish) stuff. whats the deal about tomorrows class? do we have it? cause the scheduel is so messed up
I missed the last two classes because I've been sick. I've discovered that trying to meditate while I am sick normally just ends up with me falling alseep and then waking up not knowing what I am doing on the floor. So yeah, I've kind of not been able to finish a meditation for a little while, but the ones before I got sick, were kind of helping but the palm of my right hand is still always tingly.

Zosia

Here are my posts for the last couple days days: Friday & Earlier: I've been working on my chakra that's connected to my left hand ring finger a lot, and also doing everything else (balancing chakra's, etc,.) I haven't had a lot of time, but I did find some time on Friday evening to do a footsoak and balancing chakras. I lit a candle, and it was really relaxing. Today: Mainly today during my meditations I tried to focus on the Mooladhara and Swadisthana chakras. I plan to do that some tomorrow too, along with the other basic stuff I normally do during meditation.
sorry i missed the last class.. i've been meditating some... um if there is a way to know what i missed that'd be cool hope you guys had a good meditation together. have a good week

Zosia 03 10 2006

Morning: For the past couple of days, my morning meditation has been focused on the Mooladhara. I've found it hard to focus on both the Mooladhara and the Sahasrara at the same time. My attention seems to wander a lot more than when I just try to focus on one thing. I keep trying though. Evening: I've tried footsoaking once more, and it was as relaxing as it was the first time I tried it. I also lit a candle (and kept my eyes open) and just focused on the Sahasrara, and cleansing my channels. I footsoaked tonight, and my right hand was warm.
This is a general update for the past like 2 weeks or so since I didn't have any internet access. Things have been going roughly the same, and the footsoaking didn't really do anything for me, I tried it just using the candle and not the footsoaking and it worked a little better than just regular meditation. The upper part of my palm on my right hand is still feeling warm and a little tingly whenever I meditate.

Zosia

Here's my post for today/the past couple of days: I've been meditating daily and it's been going well. I've been feeling a little bit time crunched even though it's during the break. I've been working on clearing out specific chakras (using the sheet we got). I tried the footsoak which was also really relaxing. I've been working on both sides equally. Some days I work on my right side, some days I work on my left. Today I focused on my right side because my middle and ring finger were warm during meditation.
thank you! i just got the email and the music! thank you so much for getting us music, its wonderful! ... i am slightly comfused about what happened on tuesday, and i wasnt there the rest of the week either to find out from someone in class, so if anyone out there could help me out it would be much apritiated!

Gary 02.21.2006

After school today i did some meditation, but without the photo or water. i raised my kundalini, and put it in a bandhan. Afterwards i had another wierd feeling again, but this time on the top of my head not in the back. where do i place my hands the next time something like this occurs?

Zosia (02.22.2006)

Morning: As usual, it was easy to concentrate, but I always feel somewhat rushed in the morning. Both of my hands were warm, but I didn't have time to try and balance my sides. Evening: I did have a bit more time this evening, but I didn't have a lot. I spent some more time balancing my sides, and I sat by a window while I had the chance to get some outside light. Both of my hands seemed a little bit warm. I specifically noticed the palm of my left hand was warm (again).
soo i soaked my feet and it was quite fun. I love soaking your feet because you hold so much stress in your feet because you use them all the time. you kind of feel cleansed. I was kind of imagining the picture as being a wave at sea kind of like the salt water. I thought of the picture kind of like the whole ying yang thing wit hthe dark and the light kind of meeting in the middle. But then meditating my palm was a little warm but my fingers were pleasantly cool. I hate being too cool but they seemed cold enough that it was just right but not soo cold i need gloves. well there my update... hope everyone else likes the foot soaking meditation
im so sorry i missed tuesday, this whole week i have been so sick. i guess ill keep practicing with what i know. bah. being sick really sucks.

Argh.

Meditating has been going fine for the past few days. My hands have, for the most part, been feeling cool. Except the ring finger on my left hand goes insane whenever I meditate. It twinges and kind of itches. This past week I've been getting migranes/headaches at various parts of the day, so I think the two are connected. But I can't get rid of the feeling in that chakra...it's been quite frustrating.

Starlog: 2307

I've been having quite a few problems meditating lately because I'm very uptight and nervous each time I begin, and by the time I finish, I'm so frustrated with the whole endeavour that I give it up for days at a time. However there have been a few select instances in which I have managed to calm myself enough to feel refreshed after meditatinig, instead of feeling dissapointed. Still, I am nowhere close to where I want to be. I find balancing the left and right sides to be very helpful, and raising the kundalini doesn't hurt, but all this business of chakras and warm and coild energy is, for me, distracting and unneccessary. Granted, I shouldn't talk, considering I've had so little success.
this past week meditation has been pretty cool. i liked the meditation last tuesday because i liked learning about how to meditate on others. I tried it on a friend they thought it was really cool although i had to explain what the kundalini is. They were having problems with the middle figure on the right hand and the thumb of the left so i spent extra time with it. for me i have been doing some good meditations looking at the different chakra's and spending more time . for some reason i keep forgetting what hand you put around the other one to use to rise the kundalini but i got it no... i have been focusing on different fingers as they come up but i haven't really been running into major problems....
GOOD GRIEF . I have not posted in such a long time for various reasons... It would take way too long to explain. Sorry! Anyways, my meditations have been going pretty well. When I do the ring in my palm, it has felt really tingly and, well, funky. I felt it the first time we did it in class and it has been pretty consistent since. Other than that, my meditations have been relatively uneventful. I have found that when raising the Kundalini, I feel almost like my posture is straightening- it's odd. My hands usually feel pretty cool, but on certain days they will feel warm and/or tingly. I am wondering if it has to do with certain events that day or certain emotions I may have felt, but I'm not sure. See you guys tomorrow!!
ok this is whats been going on lately my computer wasn't working and i had some issues revolving around the computer thing.. i wrote it down so here it is: this was before we started concentrating on particular fingers~ day1: morning: my hands were rather warm both of them i've been very tense all over and very stressed out it's hard for me to sit today. i was thinking i ought to sit for longer but i really am feeling kind of sick so it's hard for me to balance my energy and open them up. evening: i had much more time to work on meditating i find it's harder to meditate in the morning because i don't like waking up earlier than i have to so i think sometimes i might have to just do it after school or something. day2. right side blocked left side seems more open. I worked a little harder and redid the right side. i then at night worked a little longer on my rightside and i think it cleared a little better. I keep forgetting the words hopefully with more meditati
this weekend i was very buissy so for the first time i had to meditate in front of people (people who arnt in my class). it was very hard to concentrate.but i guess its good to meditate in front of other people so over time it becomes easer to do. when i go through the motions im not realy sure how long to hold a position, i dont want to go to fast and it not work completely but i also dont want to take forever. i went through all of the music that i have and found the clamer songs with out words, i knwo its not the special kind of meditation music from calss (which i would love to have by the way...) but it seems to help. i have also been practicing working on other people, well, my mother. i use the chart and do what youtold us to do from class, it was so cool because i didnt tell her what it would feel like but she said when i was brining up the kundilini she could feel it even though i wasnt even touching her! very cool.

Zosia 02 17 2006

Morning: What with being sick and sluggish, I didn't have time to meditate this morning, which was dissapointing. Evening: I wanted to meditate for a bit longer this evening because my hands have been warmer. So I did, and both of my hands were moderately warm. A couple fingers on my left hand were tingling, and that's it.

Zosia (02.16.2006)

Here's my post for today: Morning: This morning it seemed harder to meditate, but I think that's because I'm sick, and I had trouble breathing and it was frustrating. Both of my hands were mildly warm, but the left more so. Evening: Sense i'm officially sick, I lounged around and meditated. Like in the morning, I had difficulty focusing, but I did meditate. Once again, my left hand was warm, and my right a little tingly. I can never tell any specific fingers on my left hand. It's frustrating. But i'll keep working on clearing my left side.

I forgot to include today!

Today, I meditated in semi-public, which may not have been the most intelligent move on my part. It went well until someone started laughing at my hand motions, at which point I came out of my meditation. Luckily, I had pretty much ended anyway. The ring finger on my left hand felt twinged a lot . I did the clockwise motion to energize the chakra, but after 3 tries I gave up... any ideas?

Cumulative post

I guess I haven't posted for the past week or so. While that was pretty stupid of me, I did keep a log of my meditations. So here goes: 2/6 - During my meditation, my right channel was warm and my left channel felt nothing. (This was feeling the vibrations from the sahasrara.) 2/9 - "Meditation went pretty smoothly today. I cut the morning one short because I was restless and a little afraid of falling asleep. This evening, the meditation went well. It was pretty thoughtless, and I could feel my left side doing something when I was balancing it. The ring (chakra 7) in my palm felt tingly, along with, later on, my thumb, 2nd, and 3rd fingers on my left hand. My right thumb tingled a bit." 2/10 - Evening: "I think I had nothing blocking my channels/kundalini (not really sure how it works) tonight. My fingers and palms felt normal; cool, even. When I felt by my sahasrara bone, my hands were coolish. I think." 2/11 - My morning meditation was interrupted, but I did

3rd Day of class

Good Morning. CHSers, thanks for being such a gentle audience. Just felt like posting here in the spirit of the blog. Good work today, learning the bija (root) syllables of "Om" and going through the meditation. I'd also like to thank you all on behalf of the persons you worked on. Have a nice week and hope to see your daily posts up here pretty soon.

i raised my kundalini, put my hands i the proper positions, said the same words you told us to to say; "i'm not this vessil, only the spirit", etc. when i raised my hands above my head and rubbed my scalp i had a cold feeling in my right hand, and a tingly fealing in my left (this was this evening, the opposite had happened last night). vic, i'll try to write every night if i'm able to. ----- End forwarded message ----- [private components of email removed]

Vic,   Here's my post for today:   Morning:  This morning, while meditating I noticed that both my left hand and foot were warm.  Once I was done with meditating, my left hand was warm, and a few of my fingertips tingling.  On my right hand, my fingers were cool and my palm was warm.   Evening:  Nothing too interesting about this evening's meditation.  My left hand was till warm, and my right cool.  Here's my post for today: Morning: This morning, while meditating I noticed that both my left hand and foot were warm. Evening: Nothing too interesting about this evening's meditation. My left hand was till warm, and my right cool.
My morning meditations are harder for me than my evening ones because I'm so tired and keep almost falling asleep. But mostly, when I meditate, on my right hand, the spot just below all my fingers feels warm, as does the ring finger and thumb. On my left hand the center of my palm and my first and middle finers feel warm, and my pinky feels all tingly.

Charles Lindsay [Fri/Sat/Sun]

Hey its charles Here are my posts for thursday, friday, saturday, and sunday. Thursday : thusdays meditation was a bit of a struggle for me. we are currently remodeling and have spent some of our nights ( 10:00 11:00) cleaning, throwing away things, etc... so Although I did meditate it was only for a few minutes and then back to work! Friday : fridays meditation was much better I had the quiet time to meditate, I even lit candles and incense and listened to shaman drum beats I noticed a tingling in both my palms as i was doing the bandan. When I felt the energy coming from the top of my head with my hand, it wasn't hot. just warm. and every once and a while I would feel a jolt of cold. Saturday : saturday I did not meditate. Sunday : sunday's meditation was the best. If you didn't already know I'am a pagan preist and hoodoo, and I had to do a full moon esbat (a ritual that is performed on every full moon to honor the goddess). So it was required that I meditate. when I m

Morning: This morning I was meditating, and the middle, ring, and pinkie fingers on my left hand were tingling, when I woke up. I accidentilly had fallen asleep on the floor, and didn't have time to meditate anymore. Evening: Fridays are always hard to find time to sit down for 5-10 minutes (even though it's a short period of time) because of the chaos. But I did. I mainy focused on the Sahasrara. Both of my hands were a little warm, and I couldn't tell anything about my fingers specifically.
i think that tuesdays meditatin in class was the stragest and intense one so far. that day i had a real bad headache so it was very hard to get into the meditation and there was so much pressure in my head. but i guess for the first time (for a long period of time) i was able to get into thoughtlessness. i realized at the end..... very strange feeling.... and i am happy to say, now both of my hands are not exactly cool yet but they arn't warm! since tuesday i havent been as able to get into thoughtlessness for as long amount of time but slowly but shirly im makin progress.

Zosia (via Email) 02 08 2006

Morning: This morning I did everything the way that we learned on class on Tuesday: Raising the Kundalini, then the Bandan, balancing, etc. My right hand was cool, and my left was warm. Also, on my left hand, my middle and ring finger tingled on the tips, and just my middle on the right hand. I've been noticing this for awhile. Evening: Once again, I did everything, but focused more on balancing my Chakra's. Both of my hands seemed vaguely warm, with my middle fingers tingling again. I remembered Vic saying something during our first class about sensitivity on the fingers and like I already said, I've been noticing that my middle fingers have been tingling for awhile. I'd like to try and focus on this.

Charles Lindsay (via Email) 02.07.2006

Hi (2/7/06 11:57 at night) here's my meditation report for tonight. I began to meditate at 9:00 o'clock. To begin, I did a grownding/protection meditation that I do every night anyway. Afterwards i did the raising kundilini exercise step 1 through 4. I then followed with the bandan excercise. I then atempted to do the exercise we did the first time the class met, where we made the affirmations. When i did the raising kundilini exercise, I felt the raising sensation quite intensly, to the point where I almost fell back from the vibrations. As a quick note, in class today when we finished our meditations, I felt a very strong high that lasted until the end of the school day. I also felt a strong pressure on the right side of my head and tingleing in my index and pinky finger. What doe's that mean? Charles Lindsay

Zosia (via Email) 02 06 2006

Morning: This morning's meditation felt like it took less than a second. Focusing on the Sahasrara, both of my hands were pretty cool. Evening: The evening was harder because I haven't had a lot of time home, and I had to accomplish some other things that I usually do in the evening. Sitting still was difficult, and I couldn't really concentrate. I tried focusing on the Sahasrara. My left was warm, and my right hand tingled and was cool.
Okay, here goes. Before I started meditating, I was in a bad mood and had gotten into an argument. When I tried cleansing my left channel, my right hand (pointed down, right?) felt warm. When I tried cleansing my right channel, my left hand felt really cold. That's about all. Meditation didn't relax me at all tonight. Sorry, see you guys tomorrow...
in the last couple days i have been taking advice from the poeple in the class and medetating while sitting on the ground. it does seem to be working better, its easer to get into it. my concentrating has been getting better but a song almost always gets stuck in my head! it is very hard to concentrate when "footloose" keep playing over and over... it seems easer to meditate at night because i dont have the worries of the day on my mind, plus im so much more tired in the morning. my left hand seems alot warmer than the right one, and neither of them are "tingly" so i guess that is good. focusing on my breathing realy does seem to help alot in gettig more focused and not thinking of other things quite so much, i still an not sure what to say tho...
So far every time I meditate, my left hand is kind of tingly and my right hand is really warm. I'm still having probelms focusing and clearing my head.

Here's my post for today: Morning: I focused again on the Sahasrara, and my right hand was cool, and my left was warm. Evening: I found out that sitting on the floor helps me concentrate. Also, it's harder to focus in the evening. But after a minute or two, it's easier to concentrate. I cleansed my channels for a couple of minutes then focused on the Sahasrara. Both of my hands seemed cool but a couple of my fingers on the left hand tingled.

yesterday two meditations and today

I can't gaurentee i can post everyday because i really don't go on the computer everyday. Although i will definitely try to say what happened in the past. Also guys for some reason i think my comments havent been showing up if someone could give me so advice on that maybe i am just doing it wrong or something oh well i will see. yesterday morning: yesterday morning was not a very good one in the sense of really concentrating because i was kind really sleepy yesterday and slept most of the day so it wasn't quite morning when i meditated it was mid afternoon because thats when i had the chance. i don't remember how my hands felt. Yesterday night: Again i was sleepy but it was better than the morning they were both cold and i felt pretty relaxed and focused a lot on breathing. This morning: i meditated in the middle of my hallway because i thought it would be a good place for the moment. I felt like i was kind of rushing myself wish i kind of wish i didn't but my mind
Wow. Okay, I'm really sorry that I haven't posted every day, it's just so hard for me to get on the computer sometimes. I will try to sum up the past meditations. Lately it has been hard for me to meditate. I think on the weekends, especially, because everyone is at home at once and it's so hard for me to concentrate with all the noise. Plus I was really sick one day, and I slept all day. There has not been a ton of variation in my meditations. (Hey, that rhymed...) My hands are feeling cool most of the time, but I've found that when there has been some conflict in my day my hands tend to feel warmer. I also like sitting in a chair more than on the floor. It's much more comfortable for me, as the cartilage in my knees is messed up and its hurts when I am sitting on the floors. See you guys on Tuesday, hope you all had a great weekend.

It was at school. I'm usually late waking up, so I find that meditating after I've arrived at school is less stressful. Sent from my BlackBerry wireless handheld.

Morning: Thoughtlessness was a little harder to come by than usual because there was a lot more activity in the house, but I did manage it. Focusing on cleansing again, both hands were just warm. Evening: I focused on the Sahasrara like Vic said I should try but it was really hard to focus. I kept wandering off into different thoughts. After awhile of trying, my right hand was cool and my left was warm-ish. Zosia Sent from my BlackBerry wireless handheld.

the next batch

These are my meditation notes for the last few days. (I couldn't access blogger from my computer for some reason.) On Thursday I felt sick enough that I went to sleep as soon as I got home, so it was an extremely unproductive day, meditation-wise. I slept for about 15 hours on Friday, and didn't wake up until quite late, so I didn't do a morning meditation. During the evening, I tried to cleanse my left and right channels before meditating, which worked pretty well. I meditated for about 5-10 minutes (I took the batteries out of my clock so it would stop ticking, so I don't know the exact time). There were more thoughts floating through my brain than on Wed., but I figure I was kind of out of practice. So far today I have only done my morning mediation. It was mediocre, I guess. My hands felt somewhere between cool and nothing. I do feel a little more focused now.

karen

i couldn't get to the computer yesterday so here is the how they went yesterday i will post later about today: morning yesterday: I woke up a little late soo i didn't really have much time for it but it kind of gave me a second to just sit and have no worries. I have been getting better with remembering the words or atleast the meanings of the words. Which i found to be really cool. I can't remember the temperature of my hands i don't remember them being that warm. Yesterday evening: I meditated last night at my friends house which i thought was going to be another diasater where i get interupted by someone but instead it was one of my better meditations. I prefer sitting on the floor or the ground because i feel more grounded and i have a better connection. I guess i feel too distant from the earth when i'm in a chair or bed. Both hands were cold. i think thats good right?
it seems harder for me to meditate in the mornings, in afraid in just going to go to sleep, i dont think i have yet thogh, hehe when i put my hands over my head at the end they still feel pretty warm so i think that means something is blocked? my problem is i cant remember what to say or what exactly to do to get me all even. but on a whole i think there has been a small improvement in the last few days.

And here's my report for today: Here's my report for todays meditation. Morning : This morning was hard to meditate because I was late waking. When I actually started meditating, I tried to cleanse my right channel, but was interupted and had to get on the bus. It was frustrating. Evening : It was somewhat hard to focus, so, like Brenna did, I focused on my breathing which helped. I worked on cleansing both sides. My right hand was warm, but this time my left hand went from warm to cool. Thanks again Vic. I'll send you my report for tomorrow. Zosia

Hello Everyone, and here's a report on todays Meditation: Morning : The morning meditation went well. I had recently woken up and wasn't awake enough to have constant thoughts running through my head so it was easy to meditate. Sitting on the floor was the most comfortable. Both hands were warm. Evening : I focused on cleansing my channels, and had some trouble concentrating. My left hand was warm and my right went from warm to cold and tingled.

first meditation

My first meditation was last night. I was out at Hudson mills. I find that places that are in nature i feel more relaxed and calmed. I was meditating when all of a sudden my friend started yelling and i found it very hard to go back into meditation and therefore since had balanced out one of my sides more i kind of felt more relaxed on one said and a little off balance. I am thinking i need to find a better time to meditate. Morning meditation went a little bit better because i was alone. I enjoy doing yoga and meditation in the morning best because it's a good way to start your day off. I find have time to relax in the morning makes you a little calmer during stressful situations. I am liking the meditation. I hope your expieriences meditating are going smoothly
I am posting more about evening meditations because it's hard for me to remember my morning meditation and I don't have time to get online in the morning, anyways. I have also found it hard to meditate with no distractions, but it's good when my parents haven't come home from work yet and I'm in my room. As silly as this might sound, I lit some candles, turned off the lights, and turned my radio to nature sounds so I would be calmer and not hear too much background noise. Okay! Again, I focused a lot on my breathing, which helps. As Vic suggested, I also focused on the attention-at-Sahasrara, and I got sort of a funny feeling. Or lack, thereof. Normally, when I hold my hand over my head, I am very aware that my hand is there and I can almost feel it. Yet after meditating, before opening my eyes, it seems like I can't tell that my hand is there. Hmm... Does that mean anything? See you guys.
So far, both my evening meditations and my morning ones are fairly unsuccessful. I keep getting distracted and interupted and I can't concentrate. I also can't remember the things we were supposed to say, so I don't get all the way through the meditation.

Meditations for 2/1

I actually found it kind of stressful to find a place to meditate, but once I did, I think it went okay. However, I was kind of frustrated that I didn't remember the affermations. So. Morning: I learned that meditating while sitting in a chair works a lot better for me than sitting on the floor. I tried to open my channels (is that the term?), and then meditated for about 5 minutes. Then I was suddenly interrupted by someone trying to figure out if I was alright. Because of that interruption, I didn't get a chance to check whether my hands were warm, cold, or tingly. Evening: The evening meditation went smoother. My concious thought were few and far between, but I'm pretty sure there were some more quiet thoughts under the surface. When I checked my hands, my right was warm and my left was cooler in comparison.

alright.... here goes...

i can never seem to concentrate, i cant get into thoughtlessness and by the end i just seem to be frustrated. i guess next time ill try focusing on my breathing like brenna says. i guess we'll see. -Reed
Hey everyone! Here goes a description of my past couple of meditations... Last night, I was meditating and found it very calming to focus on my breathing- it is definitely what "gets me into thoughtlessness." I have been practicing cleansing the channels, and on my first meditation my hands felt somewhat warm but the next two my hands felt cooler. When I meditate, I almost feel far away from everything else. And there is my first blog, what an occasion.
